Clara Hardgrave

Inspired by her older brother Abel, Clara Hardgrave embarked on a lifelong journey in occupational therapy, bringing vast experience and passion to FUNctional Aquatics. After a rich professional journey, including a Peace Corp stint in Jordan and a directorship at the Brain Injury Association, she returned to the familiar territory of the DD/Mi Via Waivers, where she relishes the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces in a dynamic therapeutic setting.

My Story

Clara Hardgrave comes to FUNctional Aquatics with many years of experience working with folks with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. Her most profound experience comes from being the younger sister to her brother, Abel. He is the inspiration to be in this field (hence her company name, Able Inspired OT). In high school, she was a therapeutic recreation Supervisor. In college, she was part of the first Arc of NM’s Americorp member to promote advocacy; and after college, she was a Peace Corp Member in Jordan, working in an institution for adults with I/DD. After Jordan, she was a family-based agency Service Coordinator while she was seeking her Masters's in Public Administration. She worked as the Director of the Brain Injury Association until she discovered Occupational Therapy and decided that was her true passion. She graduated with a Masters's in OT in 2011 and has worked in various hospitals in acute care. After marrying her amazing husband and having 2 children (9 and 7 yrs old), she has come full circle and is back working in the DD/Mi Via Waivers. She feels fortunate to see many faces she once saw frequently and is excited to work in a dynamic therapeutic setting.
